  • Mission Trip 2008 - Day 5

    FINISHING WHAT WE STARTED

Clouds! Cooler weather! YAY!!! After 3 straight days of blistering heat, we finally had a cooler morning, which enabled Gene's dad to work on the roof of SAFE Family ministry.  Before end of the day, he and Maurice Wong were able to finish repairing the areas of roof that had the most damage.

Elsewhere, all stations reported work FINISHED! That's right folks, KAC mission team finished all the tasks that were outlined prior to our start on Sunday. One whole day early! Tomorrow, we will spend most of morning cleaning up all our job sites as well as our sleeping quarters. Once the children are finished with their VBS, we will return home.

We had a slightly late worship service, at 8:30 PM, but it was very special. Why? For one, the service was held at the outdoor concrete pad that we renovated this week. Two, it was our last joint worship service with the ladies of SAFE Family Ministries and the staff and pastors from Dayspring Baptist Church. Three, we were able to hear more powerful testimonies from the ladies of SAFE of how God, through this ministry, changed their lives. Ladies that were drug and alcohol addicts, to name few. Four, we were able to share communion together. Five, we spent a moving time of praise, prayer and sharing. And last, but not least, Deacon Ki Young's fire building prowess for a fun time of marshmallows and hotdog/steak cooking and eating. A fitting way to spend the last night at SAFE!

That's it folks! I am done with the (almost) live blogging from SAFE Family Ministries.  I will probably post one more time in about two weeks, after spending some time reflecting on what I have learned. And, of course, I will be able to post the video presentation I'm planning on preparing by then.

For KAC readers (and friends), thank you so much for your prayers.  We know that we are here to not only represent God, but also our church.  Through your prayers, we were able to accomplish so much in such short amount of time.  Please continue to pray for us as we head back tomorrow afternoon.

As I sign off, here are some photos from Thursday:
